Bio

Chandra Krown was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. As a child she trained in ballet and competed at a national level in gymnastics. She has been performing professionally for over 12 years.

Her first professional training was at the Main Dance Intensive Professional Training Program in Vacouver. Since, Chandra has trained and performed internationally. In 1997 Chandra created and launched XtravaDance Productions, a dance performance company based in Vancouver providing dance for a variety of events. She is trained and experienced in various techniques and styles of dance including: Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Contact, Hip Hop, Breakdancing, Aerials and Ballroom.

Chandra is an interdisciplinary artist. Her passions include improvising, dancing, aerial dancing on the outside of buildings and hanging from theater's ceilings, contact dancing, dancing in natural environments (site specific), singing, songwriting and choreographing 'for the screen'. She has also been known to dance on Stilts, with Fire and on skates. A few years ago, she toured the USA with Mortal Coil Performance Society's "Lava and Bones" show where she danced on stilts and performed in a 14' T-Rex Costume on stilts in many theaters.

Chandra has been an aerial dancer with Aeriosa Dance since 2004. She has performed withProject Bandaloop in San Francisco and had been awarded a training grant from the Canada Council of the Arts to train in aerial dance with Jo Kreiter's Flyaway Productions. Since then she has choreographed and performed her own aerial dances in the Bay Area.

Chandra has a fascination with 'Dancing In Nature' and has created some dance videos which utilizes natural settings as the backdrop and platform for movement in relation to the 'elements'. Look out for these videos coming out soon...

Chandra is currently living in the Bay Area. She has been writing songs and singing for many years and has performed at various venues in The Bay Area and in Vancouver. She began her journey into songwriting after a year-long intensive workshop with Maniko Dadigon's Temple of Song. She is currently recording her debut album with Christopher K of 7 Generations and plans to develop a feature length dance concert. Her first release is 'Pillar', available on itunes.

She has also been a member of the Shamanic Cheerleaders. Outside of her artistic projects, she spends her time with her beautiful daughter Uli.
